In the Moment Kathryn Delaplain Woods Rachel Woods Books

IN THE MOMENT shares the simple pleasures of nature and of the community—watching a Saturday morning parade, racing terrapins at the annual fish fry, dipping toes in the creek after a long day of work, and following the whir of a hummingbird under the mimosa tree—as it affirms their power to build peace and joy, ready to navigate life’s vagaries with humor and grace. Whimsical illustrations bring the collection’s metaphors to life. Immersed in nature through compelling images, the reader will travel from present to past, will face tornadoes and a heat wave, and will examine a centuries’ old sequoia. Some of the collection’s poems open readers’ eyes to the dangers of manipulation, anger, and gossip, while others show with compassion the suffering wrought by mental illness and the healing legacy of loving grandparents. IN THE MOMENT celebrates joy, acceptance, and strength in poems that explore themes of relationships, identity, nature, community, and mental illness.
In the Moment Kathryn Delaplain Woods Rachel Woods Books
In The Moment offers a poignant collection of verse covering a distinct terrain.Solitude stirs softly through the nature poetry in this colleciton. I learned again of not hurrying, of expectantly watching, of trusting nature. Kathryn Woods leads the reader to hear and to touch and to smell the surprising and stark wonder of the South Central landscape.
The second half of the book follows a sober turn as Kathryn's honest poetry takes on mental illness. Forgiveness lights the way through the darker pieces. Many of these poems I had to read a second time for the tender ouch.
Through metaphor, narrative, cadence, and prayerful wisdom, In The Moment speaks of courage and resilience and love. The simple illustrations by Rachel Woods bring the reader quietly in beside the heartbeat of the verse.
I look forward to Kathryn's next collection.

Love it!
Love this book and love the author.
wonderful...very well written!
Love this reflective book of poems. I certainly relate to some of the stories.
Love this author's poetry. Hope she will publish more.
In the Moment arrived on Tuesday and by Wednesday I had read every poem, some more than once. Each one caused me to want to read the next. I smiled at similar memories, marveled at the the descriptions of surrounding beauty, and shed tears for the difficult moments. I think that is what poetry is supposed to do. Kathryn Delaplain Woods does it well.
Kathy Delaplain Woods....your book of poetry, "In The Moment",is terrific! Your wonderful insight, feeling, and descriptions draw the reader right in to become a part of the poem. Whether you are illustrating the anxiety and suffering of a mental illness, the comfort of memories of days long gone by, the beautiful descriptions of nature or your personal growth, the reader is picturing the events in their mind's eye along with you. Outstanding! Bravo!
